1 Nov is a public holiday for several states in Germany, and apparently, Mainz is in one of the states. Thus all shops were closed. So I moved on to Wiesbaden, which is in a state of normal working day for 1 Nov...
Btw... 1 Nov is a public holiday for people to go to cemetery, according to my German colleague... so something like our Chong Yang Jie, but with a religious touch...
